Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain heard Khan's petition and directed the Attock Jail authorities, where the former prime minister is serving three-year imprisonment, to make arrangements for the father to speak to the sons over the phone.

He was arrested on August 5 from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore.

The 70-year-old cricketer-turned-politician was accused of misusing his premiership, from 2018 to 2022 tenure, to buy and sell gifts in state possession that were received during visits abroad and worth more than Rs140 million ($635,000).

Later on August 29, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the three-year sentence of Khan in the Toshakhana case.

But, a special court sent him on judicial remand on August 16 which was then extended by another 14 days till September 13.
