After suffering a heartbreaking loss, Mir took to X and shared a long note, asking the cricket enthusiasts to be patient and consistent with their love.
"Thank you for your support wherever we are in the world. It means a lot," wrote Mir, who was benched during the whole tournament despite fans chanting his name. "But support should be a 2 way thing. In good times everyone praises us. And then, as soon as we have a few bad games we are the worst cricketers of all time, and nobody is with us."
Mir also defended Shadab Khan, his counterpart in the side being a leggie, and cleared that he is not in the team based on 'friendship.'
"If Shadab doesn't perform in a few games, he is not a bad cricket," penned Mir. "It is nonsense. I have seen first-hand how he and the rest train.
"We give our 100%, and if Shadab performs in the next game, he becomes the greatest etc etc.," he added.
He asked the fans to be so reactionary while making opinions about cricketers.
He also recalled in the letter that when he was about to make his debut, everyone was hyping him up as he had a great year of domestic cricket and foreign leagues under his belt.
"After 1/2 average games vs. Afghanistan, suddenly, I am an average bowler and don't deserve a place in the team. This is crazy," he wrote.
He requested the fans to stop this undue criticism as it impacts them. He further maintained that the team is going through a rough patch, but they will bounce back.
"I'm hopeful the Pakistan team will bring happiness and joy very soon. Remember our team in your prayers. Pakistan Zindabad," he concluded.
