As rain interrupted Pakistan’s match against New Zealand, fans were once again optimistic that the Green Shirts will likely qualify for the semi-final of the World Cup 2023.

As such, Pakistan are 10 runs ahead of the par score according to the DLS method. The Babar Azam-led squad was 160 for the loss of one wicket in 21.3 overs, chasing a monumental target of 402 set by the Blackcaps in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Opening batter Fakhar Zaman smashed Pakistan’s fastest hundred in World Cup history as Pakistan’s chase was on in pursuit of the target to stay alive in the World Cup.

Pakistan will get two points as they will be adjudged winners due to them being ahead of the par score in case the match is not resumed. They will then need to defeat England in their final match of the group stage.

However, they will still need New Zealand to lose its last match against Sri Lanka.

Currently, Pakistan are ranked sixth in the points table with six points with a net run rate of -0.024. They have won three matches and lost four.

A loss in today’s game will likely result in Pakistan’s knockout from the tournament as they will end with eight points if they are able to beat England in their last match.
