The Sindh Health Department on Tuesday confirmed that people went to private and government hospitals complaining of stomach pains, gastroenteritis, diarrhoea, dehydration, food poisoning and vomiting.
More than 3,000 people visited Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Complex (JPMC) in Karachi during the three holidays of Eidul Adha, a spokesman for the Health Department confirmed.
On the other hand, almost 18,000 people were brought to hospitals across Punjab due to overeating of meat products, provincial health department said on Monday.
In an interview with Dialogue Pakistan, Nutritionist and physician Dr Syed Ikram said that a person should not eat more than 150 grams of meat in a day because it creates different problems such as blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.
“Unfortunately on Eidul Adha, people start eating meat without use of salad and vegetables,” he said.
Dr Ikram advised that people should use lots of yogurt and fruits along with meat.
“People should avoid eating all the dishes made of meat. Excess of everything is injurious to health,” he added.
