A petition was filed in the Indian High Court pertaining to rewriting the history of Taj Mehal, as it says: “Taj Mehal was not built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, it was a property of the Sikh Raja.”
Surjit Singh Yadav, Hindu Sena President, who filed the petition in Dehli High Court, noted Taj Mahal was originally the palace of Raja Man Singh, later, Mughal emperor Shah Jahan renovated it.
The plea seeking the republishing or modifying of the history of Taj Mehal in the books of history, but the petition has not been fixed for hearing yet.
“The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has provided conflicting and contradictory information on the Taj Mahal.”
The ASI has mentioned that six months after the death of Mumtaz Mahal in 1631, her body was transferred to Agra to be enshrined in the crypt of the main Tomb of the Taj Mahal. This is contradictory to the information provided on the same web page for the Taj Mahal where ASI has claimed that it took 17 years for the monument complex to be completed in 1648.
Surjit Yadav says that he has reviewed several books on the Taj Mahal and in one book it is written that Shah Jahan had a wife Alia Begum and there is no mention of Mumtaz Mahal.
He referred to the book “Taj Museum” by a little-known author ZA Desai, according to which a lofty and beautiful place was chosen for Mumtaz’s burial, which was Raja Mansingh’s mansion. and was in the possession of Man Singh’s grandson Raja Jai Singh at the time of burial.
